A safety-first guide to forex brokers: how to verify a broker is genuinely regulated, the red flags that separate real firms from clone scams, and five brokers we've independently vetted as safe to sign up with.
Every broker below has a regulatory license we confirmed directly on the regulator's public register, with company details that match. None are ranked by how much they pay us — commission has no bearing on whether a broker passes verification.
The same three checks, every time — before a broker is added, and again on every re-check.
We look the broker up directly on the regulator's own register — not a badge on their site — and confirm the license is active and covers the entity actually taking your funds.
Registered company name, address, and license number have to match across the regulator's register, the broker's terms and conditions, and the domain you'd actually be signing up on.
Licenses lapse and firms change status. We periodically re-verify every broker on this list rather than checking once and leaving it.
Our How to Spot a Scam guide walks through exactly how to look up a regulator's register, verify company ownership, and spot the red flags of a clone firm — the same checks we run before adding anyone to this list.
It means we checked the broker's regulatory license directly against the regulator's own public register (ASIC, FCA, CySEC, and others depending on the entity), confirmed the company details on that license match who they claim to be, and re-check periodically in case a license lapses or changes. It is not a guarantee of future performance, and it isn't an endorsement from the regulator itself — it just means the basics checked out.
Go straight to the regulator's own register rather than trusting a badge on the broker's website — anyone can copy an image. Search the regulator's site (for example the FCA register or ASIC Connect) by the company's exact legal name, and confirm the registered address, license number, and permitted activities match what the broker states. See our full walkthrough on the How to Spot a Scam page.
A related but different problem: clone firms sometimes impersonate a real regulated broker's name and license number while running an entirely separate, unregulated operation. Always reach the broker through a URL you typed yourself or verified independently, not a link from an unsolicited message, and cross-check the domain against the one listed on the regulator's register.
It depends on the broker. Minimum deposits on this list range from $0 to a few hundred dollars, so check the comparison table above before you sign up. A low minimum deposit says nothing about how safe a broker is — verification status and regulation matter far more than the deposit amount.
We may earn a commission when you sign up through our links, at no extra cost to you. This never affects which brokers pass our verification checks or how we describe them — a broker that failed our checks would not appear here regardless of any commission on offer.
Forex and CFD trading involves substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for all investors. "Verified" on this site means a broker's regulatory license and company details checked out against the relevant regulator's public register at the time of our review - it is not a guarantee of future performance or an endorsement by any regulator. Fake Forex Brokers may receive compensation from the brokers listed here when you sign up through our links, at no additional cost to you. This does not affect which brokers pass our verification checks.
